It is the feeling of Kevin and I that Bronx Community College under the leadership of Dr. Thomas Isekenegbe, President of the College has misused funds that were originally given to the college to restore the War Monument on Monument Hill, a British Revolutionary War Earthen fort and the home to a monument to British and American soldiers of World War I. Kevin and I were able to get NYC Councilman Fernando Cabrera to secure a $200,000 grant from the City Council and a matching $200,000 grant form the State of New York to restore the grounds and monument with the addition of a monument to Dominican soldiers who sacrificed in World War II. click on the image below to enlarge it.
The college tells us there is no money left over to restore the monument and that we can try to raise the money privately. This was not the intent of the money short of being used for restoration of the war memorial and for a memorial to Dominican soldiers. The college knows this, we know it and this should be investigated. There was plenty of money available to compete this project and it is criminal as far as we are concerned for what they have done.
